XOOLUM IP40 / IP20 family

Powerful lighting system in a compact architectural form.

The XOOLUM IP40 family is a compact linear lighting system designed for high lighting performance in indoor architectural applications. Despite its reduced form factor, it delivers high lumen output using external drivers and supports flexible configuration with Static White, Tunable White and RGBW light engines. Reduced to a clear system logic, XOOLUM IP40 supports versatile lighting concepts across offices, educational facilities, public buildings and museums, where performance and restrained architectural integration must align.

Key Features

Optical flexibility

XOOLUM Indoor family offers wide beam and wall wash light distributions using opal, diffuse or reflector‑based optical systems. This range of optical options supports high compatibility with diverse architectural interior requirements.

Precise 45° Adjustability

Within the XOOLUM Indoor family, selected versions feature a precisely adjustable system head with a 45° tilt angle. This adjustability allows targeted light alignment for accent, task or ambient lighting while maintaining a compact overall design.

Versatile integration

With a compact cross section of 24.5 mm × 36 mm (45° tilted) or 29.8 mm (0° tilted), XOOLUM Indoor family supports flexible integration across a wide range of indoor applications. The slim geometry enables precise installation along ceilings, walls or architectural details.

Colorful options

Beyond the optical systems, XOOLUM Indoor family offers a wide selection of light engines that can be tailored to individual project needs. Available options include Static White, Tunable White and RGB, supporting both functional lighting tasks and expressive architectural concepts.

Powerful light line

Despite its compact dimensions, XOOLUM Indoor family delivers high luminous flux at power levels of up to 36 W per meter. The slim design supports flexible installation concepts and even continuous row options with our 15 m opal cover.

Clean finish

Fixed, non‑tiltable end caps create a clean and consistent finish for XOOLUM Indoor family. This supports precise alignment and a clear, consistent appearance in architectural interior applications across a wide range of projects.

APPLICATION SCENARIOS

XOOLUM IP40 is suited for indoor applications where controlled wall washing, wide beam illumination or clearly defined linear accents are required. The following application scenarios show how precisely aligned, 45° tiltable light enhances walls, structural elements and spatial zones, enabling flexible and well‑controlled lighting concepts across different indoor environments.

GENERAL LIGHTING

The National Maritime School (ENSM) in Le Havre was designed and realized by the SOGEA construction / AIA / ECHOS / ECONOMY 80 consortium as a compact and clearly articulated educational building. Its architectural concept follows the idea of “Ship in School”, translating principles of shipbuilding into spatial organization, structure and materiality, and using the building itself as a didactic element.

Within the interior spaces, general lighting plays a key role in supporting orientation, learning and everyday use. XOOLUM IP40 can be applied as a linear indoor lighting system to provide uniform and controlled illumination across circulation areas, teaching spaces and functional zones. With wide beam and wall wash distributions, combined with selected versions offering precise 45° adjustability, the system allows light to be aligned according to task‑related and spatial requirements. Its compact dimensions enable seamless integration into ceilings, walls or architectural details, ensuring continuous light lines or clearly defined accents while maintaining a restrained visual presence.

In this context, XOOLUM IP40 supports a functional and consistent interior lighting concept that aligns with the building’s rational structure and educational purpose.

TASK LIGHTING

As part of a new global creative direction, Balenciaga’s flagship store on Rue Saint Honoré in Paris was redesigned with a new interior and lighting concept developed by Berlin‑based design studio AAS, in collaboration with lighting designers Licht Kunst Licht. The spatial concept is defined by clean lines, elongated display tables and an intricate system of suspended elements that structure the retail space and frame the presentation of apparel.

Within this setting, task lighting plays a central role in supporting product visibility and visual comfort. Linear light lines integrated into the suspended beams provide controlled, high‑quality illumination directly above display and circulation areas. Using XOOLUM IP40, precise and uniform light distribution can be achieved along the linear structures, ensuring clear visibility of merchandise while maintaining a restrained and coherent visual language. With a high colour rendering index and carefully selected colour temperatures, the system supports accurate material perception and consistent lighting conditions throughout the space. Selected versions with precise 45° adjustability allow light to be aligned to specific display requirements, while the compact design enables seamless integration into the architectural elements.

In this project context, XOOLUM IP40 supports a functional and visually controlled task‑lighting concept that aligns with the brand’s refined interior design and enhances the overall retail experience.

ACCENT LIGHTING

This private residence in London is defined by a restrained architectural language with clean surfaces and clearly articulated interior volumes. The lighting concept focuses on subtle integration, using light to support the spatial structure without introducing visible fixtures.

Within the interior, XOOLUM IP40 is applied as contour lighting to trace architectural edges and transitions between walls, ceilings and built‑in elements. The compact linear system enables continuous light lines that emphasise the geometry of the space while remaining visually discreet. With controlled wide beam and wall wash distributions, the light softly defines surfaces and boundaries, contributing to orientation and atmosphere rather than dominating the interior. The system’s precise integration supports a calm and balanced lighting composition suited to residential environments.

In this context, XOOLUM IP40 demonstrates how linear contour lighting can enhance interior architecture through clarity, restraint and controlled illumination.

TASK LIGHTING

Located near Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, the Documentation Centre “Flight, Expulsion and Reconciliation” was conceived as a place of learning and remembrance, addressing the causes and consequences of forced migration in European history. The permanent exhibition extends over two levels and combines open spatial structures with long, themed exhibition furniture and recessed display elements.

Within this context, task lighting is an essential tool for guiding attention and supporting the precise presentation of exhibits. XOOLUM IP40 is integrated into open frames, recessed display cases and exhibition furniture to provide controlled, glare‑reduced illumination directly at the objects on display. The linear system enables uniform lighting of showcases and display surfaces, ensuring clear visibility and consistent light quality across different exhibition areas. Selected configurations allow light to be aligned accurately to the exhibits, supporting both functional reading tasks and focused visual perception, while remaining discreetly integrated into the exhibition architecture.

In this project, XOOLUM IP40 contributes to a clear and controlled task‑lighting concept that supports the exhibition narrative while maintaining visual restraint and architectural consistency.
