On 23rd April 2015 30 students from the University of Wismar under the guidance of Professor Römhild visited the LED Linear™ headquarters in Neukirchen-Vluyn and the production in Duisburg.
The international group consisted of students from 18 nations, all studying "Architectural Lighting Design". As part of the youth development program of LED Linear™ the rare and interesting insight into the company was made possible. At the beginning of the visit, the company introduced itself at its headquarters in Neukirchen-Vluyn and invited his young visitors to take a look around in the office. In the showroom the students were given a presentation about the products and their characteristics. There were product demonstrations, luminaires to touch and feel and also some novelties to admire and get to know – a journey of discovery through the world of products. In the second part of the visit, the students were given the chance to visit the production and take a look behind the scenes of a "Made in Germany" manufacturer. In a detailed tour, the students gained an interesting insight into the luminaire assembly, the encapsulation area, the dispatch area and the light laboratory. Particular attention was devoted to the topic of innovation. The students learned how the company optimizes processes and holds everything continuously on the cutting edge of technology. To illustrate this, the new Goniophotometer "Robogonio" from Opsira was demonstrated in light laboratory. Due to the flexibility of this robust 6-axis industrial robot it is possible to combine several types of goniometers and light measurement applications in a high-precision instrument and therefore to perform light measurements at the highest level. In addition to this impressive demonstration it was also shown on other ways that LED Linear™ is a sympathetic, innovative company "to touch": the Managing Directors Dr. Michael Kramer and Carsten Schaffarz accompanied the visit and were willing to answer the students all their questions. As a highlight at the end, there was a guest present for each participant in the form of a small luminaire – to touch, try out, discover and take home.
LED Linear™ sees it as part of its mission to support young talents and wanted to give students unique insights at all levels with this visit. Also the director of the visit on the part of the University of Wismar, Prof. Römhild, was delighted with this possibility: "To get an insight into the luminaire development, to experience innovative spirit live and the unique atmosphere in a young, growing, innovative company were tremendously motivating for the students. Thanks to LED Linear™!"
