On 11th January 2018 15 students from the University of Wismar visited the LED Linear™ production in Duisburg.
The international group from 12 nations consisted of students from the Master's degree program "Architectural Lighting Design", which has been offered at the university since 2001. LED Linear™ offered the students a rare and interesting insight into the company as part of the youth development program. At the beginning of the visit, the company introduced itself. Then the students were given a presentation about the products and their characteristics, giving them the possibility to touch, feel, experience and learn what LED Linear™ can offer them to bring their ideas to live. In the second part of the visit, the students were given the chance to visit the production and take a look behind the scenes of a "Made in Germany" manufacturer. In a detailed tour, the students gained an interesting insight into the areas reel-to-reel production, luminaire assembly, encapsulation, dispatch and the light laboratory.
Particular attention was devoted to the topic of innovation. The students learned how the company optimizes processes and holds everything continuously on the cutting edge of technology. To illustrate this, the Goniophotometer "Robogonio" from Opsira was demonstrated in the light laboratory. Due to the flexibility of this robust 6-axis industrial robot it is possible to combine several types of goniometers and light measurement applications in a high-precision instrument and therefore to perform light measurements at the highest level.
LED Linear™ sees it as part of its mission to support young talents and wanted to give students unique insights at all levels with this visit. As a highlight at the end, there was a guest present for each participant – to touch, try out and take home.
