The PLDC, short for Professional Lighting Design Convention, is a biannual convention which was created for the global lighting design market. Lighting designers, architects, researchers, universities, industry and clients use PLDC as a platform to meet, learn about the latest developments in lighting design, and discuss the future of the lighting profession. PLDC stands for high quality knowledge transfer and international networking opportunities.

The sixth Professional Lighting Design Convention will be held in Paris, following in the footsteps of the successful series of PLDC events since 2007. To date events have been held in London, Berlin, Madrid, Copenhagen and Rome. In 2015 in Rome PLDC brought together 1700 attendees, representatives from 25 associations, representatives from 38 universities and institutes and an exhibition of 66 partners from the lighting industry. Over the years PLDC has registered altogether almost 6500 attendees.

PLDC 2017 will mark a further step in the pursuit to gain official recognition of the architectural lighting design profession. Based on the proven success of the PLDC concept, the convention will again be built around a three-day professional conference. As an addition, the organizers will again offer Experience Rooms. These rooms will invite and encourage attendees to actively experience light through different topics.
