Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

June 2022 marks a milestone in the evolution of flexible LED tapes. This month sees the market launch of our new LED tapes HYDRA Professional (PRO) and HYDRA Excellence (EXL), which represent significant improvements to their predecessors. These LED tapes will replace the previous VarioLED™ Flex NEXUS and VarioLED™ Flex HYDRA tape families in tape reel sales and will also be successively used in our luminaires.

The advantages of the new LED tapes at a glance:

• Significant efficacy improvements compared to the CRI 90 variants of the previous VarioLED™ Flex NEXUS and VarioLED™ Flex HYDRA.
• Overall color rendering of at least 90 for all color temperature levels and the significantly optimized efficacy.
• Photon+: Unprecedented combination of high color rendering (up to CRI 97) combined with simultaneous high efficacy (up to 145 lumen/meter).
• Significantly increased tape lengths as reel stock simplify on-site assembly (up to twice the maximum length previously available). At the same time, this reduces packaging waste.
• By aligning the luminous flux levels of the two tape families, the exchangeability of the two LED tapes within a specification is easily achieved.
• A variant with 4 W/m is newly introduced for HYDRA PRO and HYDRA EXL.
• LED pitch of only 8.93 mm - ideal for dotfree lighting solutions.
• HYDRA PRO and HYDRA EXL are both operated with 24 V constant voltage and are equipped with a high-quality double-sided adhesive tape on the back.
• The width of the LED tapes has been reduced from 9.5 mm to 8 mm in order to sustainably save material here. Due to the optimized layout, there is no reduction in the maximum possible lengths.

HYDRA Professional (PRO)

• Improved efficacy of up to 121 lm/W
• Optimized CRI up to 94, R9 up to 74
• Very good lifetime of L80B10 > 60.000h
• High quality 3030 LEDs

Our HYDRA PRO LED tape range (as in EXL) establishes a new standard in LED tape through very good efficacy values and at the same time optimized color rendering of up to 94, based on improved versions of our successful technologies such as One Bin only, TjAway and Reel 2 Reel production.

HYDRA Excellence (EXL) with Photon+ technology
The HYDRA Excellence series is based on Photon+ technology and sets new standards in the field of LED tapes. Photon+ stands for very high light quality (CRI, R9, TM30-15) in simultaneous combination with a very high efficacy of up to 145 lm/W.

Thanks to our in-house expertise and production "Made in Germany", we are able to carefully select LEDs, components and other electronic elements and combine them with Photon+ technology through appropriate fine-tuning. Thus, efficacy values of over 140 lm/W are no longer exclusive to low color renderings of CRI 80.

Highlights at a glance:

• Significant efficacy increase of up to 145 lm/W with a simultaneously very high color rendering quality of up to 97 due to our Photon+ technology.
• Significantly improved service life of L90B10 > 60,000 h. 
• High quality 3030 LEDs with package made of ceramic for optimized thermal management.

Olympus Campus in Hamburg (with luminaire series XOOLINE)
The Olympus Campus is a place of encounters for employees and customers and equally reflects the brand and the values of the company. Such a future-oriented working environment placed high demands on the lighting designer agency Kober and their lighting concept, as "classic office workplace lighting" is out of the question for such a creative, flexible and communicative working environment.

This reference shows the foyer of the Olympus Campus, which paints a harmonious picture with the luminaire series XOOLINE, used for indirect lighting of the vertical wall recesses. The XOOLINE IP40 is now available with the new LED tapes HYDRA PRO and HYDRA EXL and offers all the demonstrated advantages of this new LED generation.
