Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
The right lighting not only brings light into mainly utilitarian areas, but can also beautify them and make striking statements for spaces that are otherwise often overlooked. Because pendant luminaires don't just have to hang above the table, they are quite wonderful for setting the scene for individual areas in small or large rooms.
Today we are presenting our XOOTUBE™ 38 luminaire, which can be used as an eye-catcher and design element for a variety of interior applications, e. g. in foyers and reception areas, libraries, corridors, shop-in-shop systems, restaurants and hotels. This eye-catcher can be mounted both horizontally and vertically, but can also be used as a surface-mounted luminaire on walls or ceilings.
The advantages at a glance:
XOOTUBE™ 38 (IP40)
Accent lighting / Lobby Office Building
90 Park Avenue (New York, USA) is located at the gateway to the Midtown business district and at the northern end of the popular Murray Hill residential neighbourhood. It is only a few steps away from Grand Central Terminal, the New York Public Library and eateries such as Cipriani 42nd Street and the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The developer had completed a major capital improvement programme that includes a modernised lobby, lifts and upgraded mechanical systems to transform this building into a state-of-the-art Class A building. The lobby is lit with an exceptional lighting scheme and is a real eye-catcher. The lighting designers opted for the elegant XOOTUBE™ pendant luminaire as an oversized mobilé.
Accent lighting / Art installation
At the centre of the historic building "The Met" in Bury, England, is this iconic art installation "Sevenfold" by internationally renowned artist Liz West. Interacting with the site, the installation fills the grand entrance and staircase of the Victorian neo-classical building with vibrant colour and a sense of illusion. Light is very important to Liz' work and this is a space that is flooded with natural light. The installation uses daylight to illuminate the architecture and grandeur of the 1840s Met architecture.
"Sevenfold" references Newton's rainbow sequence of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Thus, seven (six prisms in the main installation and one mini above the reception) individual and wide prisms were created, using mirrors to relay the colour and reflect elements of the beautifully restored architecture. As visitors climb the stairs, they find themselves at eye level with the artwork and get the chance to gaze at "Sevenfold" in luminous entirety. Inside the artwork are XOOTUBE™ luminaires, which score points not only with their homogeneous light distribution.
General Lighting / Office Building
The Pepper Store is a converted 18th century Company spice warehouse from the East India Company and now functions as a five-storey workspace in London. Combining listed buildings with 1980s office accommodation, the design concept aims to highlight the building's famous heritage within a truly modern workplace.
The reception areas, designed by luxury design house March and White, also epitomise this concept. Large windows, unrendered brick, wooden floors and original concrete vaulted ceilings provide a modern and industrial expression. LED Linear's XOOTUBE™ was customised in length to fit the ceiling. Both the coffers in the ceiling and the main floor area were illuminated. Due to the zig-zag installation the luminaires add a sophisticated but striking element to the ceiling.
Accent lighting / Retail
This lighting installation in the Aleksi 13 department stores' in Helsinki (Finland) serves as a crown and eye-catcher in this inspiration area, consisting of 50 vertically mounted LED Linear XOOTUBE™ luminaires. The diameter of this oval installation is 3.5 metres.
Task lighting / Busterminal
The Oslo Busterminal is a popular station with 50,000 passengers passing through daily. The dynamic lighting installation is designed to enhance the atmosphere and urban features of the terminal. The lighting designers have used XOOTUBE™ 38 in vertical alignment in combination with Marathon spotlights from Fagerhult.
