Within the framework of the Smart Borders Initiative, the EU Parliament has decided to introduce the common biometric entry/exit system (EES) for the registration of all travellers from third countries. From 2022 onwards, third-country nationals will have to register with four fingerprints and a facial image when entering countries in the Schengen area at land, sea and air borders.
Fast and intuitive operation
secunet has developed the easytower for capturing high-quality facial images in stationary applications. Thanks to its intuitive user guidance, the secunet easytower is easy to use for both travellers and border officials. A built-in and height-adjustable feedback screen displays the "live" recordings of the facial image camera. The traveller looks, so to speak, into a digital mirror with additional user guidance, which – available in several languages – supports the traveller regarding his optimal positioning in front of the device. Depending on requirements, a fully automatic or a manual capture mode is selected. Due to the intuitive capture process, the secunet easytower guarantees a short capture time and thus accelerates the border control process.
Lighting quality at the highest level
The integrated lighting from the XOOLINE™ LED Linear™ luminaire series guarantees high-quality, reasonably illuminated images and ensures homogeneous exposure of the face even in unfavourable lighting conditions. Once the face has been successfully captured, the border guard can continue with the control process. Thanks to the unique design of this camera solution, officers using the secunet easytower for facial image capture are optimally supported in their complex activities.
The XOOLINE™ HD15 luminaire also impresses with its high light output of up to 5,100 lm/m and maximum efficiency of 143 lm/W despite its miniaturised design. With a light colour of 5,000 Kelvin, true-to-nature colour rendering with diffuse cover, it guarantees homogeneous illumination for face detection at the highest level. The secunet easytower also features the IN.finite DMX control unit, which takes over the task of lighting control.
As a control system developed in-house by LED Linear™, the IN.finite DMX technically offers considerable added value thanks to the high frequency range of 1.6 KHz and the option of being able to individually adjust the dimming range.
