Double success at the German Design Award: AMOR and XOOTUBE™ awarded with Special Mention

25-10-15

The German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council. It is one of the best-known design competitions in the world and is held in high regard well beyond professional circles. This time five products of LED Linear™ were nominated in the category “Lighting” (Excellent Product Design): VarioLED™ Flex AMOR, VarioLED™ Flex SKYLLA, KALYPSO, XOOTUBE™ 38 and XOOMINAIRE™ 9999.

The competition places high demands on the determination of its award winners: Due to its unique nomination process only those products that stick out through their proven design quality are invited to join. This is why even the nomination for this award is special because at the German Design Award, products cannot be easily registered.

VarioLED™ Flex AMOR and XOOTUBE™ 38 table luminaire were now additionally awarded with the „Special Mention“ seal. This award honors achievements whose design exhibited particularly noteworthy aspects or solutions – a distinction that acknowledges the commitment of both companies and designers.

The AMOR convinced the jury especially with its diverse applications: “VarioLED™ Flex AMOR is a miniaturized, moulded, IP67-protected and flexible LED light strip in opal, which is ideally suited to a variety of applications in the areas of drywall installation, furniture construction, decorative accent lighting and external facades. The homogeneous light quality combined with an unprecedentedly small cross-section of just 5 x 13 mm (W X H) is captivating. The VarioLED™ Flex AMOR can be flexed horizontally to a minimum radius of just 3 cm. It’s also a winner thanks its high resistance to saltwater and UV light. A pleasing light solution that opens up a variety of design possibilities.” (Jury Statement: Anne Højgaard Jørgensen | Hartmut Schürg | Aleks Tatic)

The XOOTUBE™ 38 table luminaire could score with timeless design: “The XOOTUBE™ 38 is a timelessly modern, puristically designed LED table luminaire, which convinces with a thoroughly homogeneous light profile and industrial style combined with elegance and aesthetics. The reduced design, which measures just 38 mm wide, makes these elegant lights an eye-catcher in numerous styles of interior, all the more so since they are available with four different colours of end cap. A pleasant atmosphere in the room is thus guaranteed. The lights are turned on and off by an integrated sensor at the light head.” (Jury Statement: Anne Højgaard Jørgensen | Hartmut Schürg | Aleks Tatic)

The award ceremony will take place in Frankfurt on 12th February 2016. For all winners and nominees of the German Design Award 2016 please visit gallery.designpreis.de.
