WE CONTRIBUTE TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable development in social, economic, and environmental aspects. As a lighting manufacturer, we make a significant contribution to the development of sustainable cities and their infrastructure on one hand, while on the other, we continuously reduce our carbon footprint as a manufacturing company and responsibly manage resources.

We are committed to fulfilling the Paris Agreement and participating in efforts to limit global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels.

Sustainable cities and communities

Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Currently, cities represent 3% of the planet's surface and contain more than 50% of the population. A figure that will increase to 70% in 2050. Added to these numbers is the fact that cities generate more than 80% of the world's gross domestic product (GDP).

Responsible consumption and production

Goal 12 is about ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, which is key to sustain the livelihoods of current and future generations.

small steps, big goal

We follow the triple bottom line principle as a guidance for our sustainability journey. Our strategic efforts aim to balance and further develop the three essential pillars toward a sustainable future: Social, Governance and Environment.

social

Embracing diversity, providing a healthy and safe environment for our employees and external partners, living and nurturing our values.

Governance

Ensuring ethical business and relationship, enforcing a zero corruption policy. The Fagerhult Group code conduct pave the way of our business and operations.

Environment

Minimizing the ecological impact of our operations as well as our lighting solutions throughout the entire life cycle: cradle to cradle / grave.

small steps, big goal

To ensure our success and to quantify the impact of our actions, we have formulated our climate goals within the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The SBTi offers a clear scope and framework to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint in order to reach the Paris Agreement goals. We commit on reducing our GHG impact of our operations (Scope 1 & Scope 2) but also throughout the entire lifecycle from the supply chain until the decommissioning of our products.

our commitment

The near- and long-term goals of our sustainability initiatives are to:

reduce direct and indirect GHG emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 70 per cent by 2030, compared with 2021

reduce other direct and indirect GHG emissions (Scope 3) by more than 30 per cent by 2030, compared with 2021

to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2045.

DC Lighting topology

DC lighting with remote driver has been the working horse of LED Linear™ since its founding. It is a sensible advantage toward our sustainability goals as it enables a measured number of drivers supplying multiple fittings. The result:  reduction of e-waste (significant carbon footprint) and higher system efficiency compared to integral driver solutions).

Miniaturization

Miniaturization is an essential pathway to sustainability. When we embrace the "smaller is better" philosophy, we inherently reduce our carbon footprint throughout the entire value chain (cradle to grave): less resource consumption, lower logistics footprint, and curb waste generation. We constantly seek to develop solution offering the maximum effect with the minimum material required. The ULTIMA family is our current flagship in this direction.

Renewable energy source

As of January 1st 2024, LED Linear™ production‘s site will only source its electricity through renewable sources (wind, solar & hydrolic) in cooperation with our energy provider. Also, solar panels have been installation on the entire roof of the premises which will enable up to 25% coverage of our daily usage. A great step in the achievement of our target for Scope 1 & 2.

Certified according to DIN EN ISO 14001:2015

As a globally recognized standard for environmental management, DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 stands for responsibility, transparency and continuous improvement. Our certification, last renewed by Intertek in September 2024, confirms our commitment to consistently integrating ecological aspects into all our processes, products and services. This underlines our commitment to environmental awareness, efficiency and long-term sustainability in every facet of our business.
