Our Awards

The German Design Awards are the premium prize of the German Design Council. With its global scope and international appeal, it is one of the most prestigious awards in the design landscape across all industries. Since 2012, the German Design Awards have been identifying key design trends, presenting them to a broad public and honoring them.

Extraordinary submissions in product design, communications design and architecture are selected each year.

The German Design Award is decided by an independent international jury of experts. It is made up of representatives from industry, universities and design. Their judgement is invaluable - anyone who convinces this jury demonstrates expertise in design innovation and a strong focus on the demands of customers and the market.

In the ‘Lighting’ category, the product VENUS True Color Optics convinced the jury and received the ‘Winner’ award for outstanding and exemplary design quality.

In the “Lighting” category, the ADONIS ARCHITECTURAL product family received the “Winner” award for outstanding, exemplary design quality.

LEDs Magazine is pleased to announce the 7th annual Sapphire Awards finalists. For 2021, 17 product categories were recognized, with submissions delineating a clear path toward solid-state lighting (SSL) and systems that do more than illuminate spaces. Launched in 2014 with the first winners announced at Strategies in Light 2015, the Sapphire Awards program has honored innovators and product developments that have advanced LED-centric SSL components, systems, and applications into the mainstream, and have promoted performance and capabilities beyond traditional light sources. 2021 Awards winners were recognized in August during the virtual Strategies in Light conference (Aug. 24–25, 2021). In the category "Indoor Cove, Strip, Specialty, and Lamp Design", the ULTIMA luminaire was the clear winner.

The ULTIMA luminaire family received the GOLD award and impressed the jury by saying, “the concept of ULTIMA is a luminaire which perfectly blends into any architectural structure with minimal impact”.

The awards that make innovation visible: The German Innovation Awards honour products and solutions across sectors, which differ from previous solutions mainly by being user-centred and offering added value. They do so because there are innovations in all sectors that shape the future and improve life. Sometimes you see them at first glance – but often not. The German Innovation Awards aim to change that. They make great achievements visible to a wide audience and ensure successful positioning in the market.

The German Design Council's brand book presents the most important German corporate brands. LED Linear™ is proud to be a part of this year's edition "#whatcounts. The great German brands 2021".

The title of this year's volume "#whatcounts" could not be more topical. Technological change, but also the worldwide Corona pandemic, bring new social, ecological and cultural questions. Meanwhile, the logics of the economic world are changing at a rapid pace. The brand, above all, guarantees survival. "With the growing power of the data-driven economy, controlling one's own brand image and its consistent staging across all points of contact is not getting any easier," says Lutz Dietzold, describing the challenges facing brand managers today. But the brands gathered in this year's volume prove that it is possible and an adventure that is worthwhile.

The German Design Council has given the ULTIMA luminaire two awards for outstanding design quality:

"Winner" for ULTIMA in the category "Excellent Product Design – Lighting"
"Special Mention" for ULTIMA in the category "Excellent Product Design – Eco Design"

The German Design Award is one of the most renowned design awards worldwide and enjoys a high reputation far beyond professional circles. Those who prevail against the top-class competition have successfully proven that they belong to the best. The Special Mention award of the German Design Award recognises a consistent design concept and implementation. Depending on the quality of the submissions, the jury awards this seal of quality for innovative design to an appropriate number of entries in each category. These are selected by a separate jury of experts in each category of the German Design.

The jury has decided: after evaluating thousands of products from all over the world, the ULTIMA luminaire series received the coveted "red dot" award. LED Linear™ has demonstrated outstanding design and high quality and this was recognised by the expert panel of the Red Dot Award: "Product Design 2020" with the internationally renowned seal of quality. The jury's verdict for the ULTIMA is: “With a high degree of flexibility and minimalist compactness, ULTIMA delivers a new design freedom in architectural lighting.”

The LEDs Magazine Sapphire Awards celebrates the innovation driving our industry and takes place during Strategies in Light conference. The 2020 Sapphire Awards winners were announced during a reception aboard the USS Midway on Feb. 12, 2020 in San Diego.

In the reception LED Linear’s NEXUS UHD Flex tape was announced as the winner in “SSL Flex, Tiles, and Sheets” category and was honored with a Sapphire Award trophy.

Prizes will only be awarded to projects that truly represent pioneering contributions to the German and international design landscape. The highly esteemed, international jury guarantees this. The German Design Award identifies and presents unique design trends: a competition that advances the design-oriented scene. In the category "Lighting" LED Linear™ received this award for outstanding design quality with three new products: MARS NANO, XOOCOVE and XOOLUX™ NANO.

The ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Architecture Competition – the German Design Council's international competition – honors the best architectural and design solutions. Architects, engineers, specialist planners, agencies and design studios, construction and real estate companies as well as manufacturers of materials, building technology, fittings, plumbing and bathroom products, etc., were invited to submit their projects by 17 May 2019. LED Linear™ convinced the jury with its innovative system luminaires LYRA 36 NANO and XOOCOVE.

The Sapphire Awards is the first competition in the lighting industry to focus on the LED-based solid-state lighting (SSL) market from an enabling-technology and elegance-of-design perspective — recognizes true technology stars. The judging process, handled by independent industry experts, culminates in an Awards Gala held at Strategies in Light, which puts the spotlight on winners in multiple product categories. The Sapphire Awards relies on independent judges chosen from industry and consultancy roles to ensure that all entries are fairly evaluated by multiple experts. The judges assigned to evaluate any given product category or innovator entry will be screened to ensure that there is no possible conflict of interest in the process. 

LED Linear™ was finalist in two categories and won in one category. MARS NANO – finalist in the "Indoor Troffer, Track, and Downlight SSL Luminaire Design" category. VarioLED™ Flex VENUS 3D – winner of the "Modular LED Light Engine" category.

The ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Interior 2019 distinguish the best of all areas of interior design. Anyone who prevails here against the high-caliber competition has successfully proven that they can come to the public with exceptionally good products. LED Linear™ has received this award for outstanding design quality with two new products: MARS NANO and XOOLUX™ NANO. The ceremonial award ceremony of the ICONIC AWARDS 2019: Innovative Interior took place on January 13, 2019 in Cologne. Afterwards, the exhibition was then opened in the Kölnischer Kunstverein, where our award-winning products were shown at the IMM COLOGNE 2019.

On the 6 of June 2019, the winners of the German Brand Award were honored at a festive gala in Berlin. For the fourth time, LED Linear™ was one of the winners of this evening and was awarded the Winner label in the category „Industry Excellence in Branding – Lighting“. Through the German Brand Awards, the German Design Council and the German Brand Institute give acclaim to successful brands, consistent brand management and long-term brand communication.

The German Design Award recognizes innovative products and projects, their manufacturers and designers, which are groundbreaking in the German and international design landscape. This is guaranteed by the high-caliber international jury. The German Design Award discovers and presents unique design trends: a competition that advances the design-oriented economy. In the category "Lighting" LED Linear™ received this award for outstanding design quality with three new products: Winner ECLIPSE, Winner XOOLUX™ NANO and Special Mention for VarioLED™ Flex VENUS True Color. The award ceremony took place on February 8, 2019 in Frankfurt.

For the third time, LED Linear™ was one of the winners and was awarded the Winner label in the category "Industry Excellence in Branding – Lighting". The German Brand Award is the award for successful brand management in Germany.

The jury has decided: after several days of evaluating thousands of products from all over the world VarioLED™ Flex VENUS True Color received the coveted "Red Dot" award. LED Linear™ has demonstrated outstanding design and high quality, and this was acknowledged by the expert committee of the Red Dot Award: "Product Design 2018" with the internationally known quality seal. The jury’s verdict is: Outstanding product design and efficient lighting technology.

Design Plus powered by Light + Building stands as a seal of quality for products, that distinguish sustainability, innovative design and energy-efficient technology. Values that stands for Light + Building as World's leading trade fair for architecture and technology. In addition to the quality of the design and the overall concept of the product, the innovation content as well as the technical and ecological quality of the submitted products was evaluated. Since 1953, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been classified as an internationally recognized label for good design. The winning product, ECLIPSE won in the discipline “Product” in the category “Lighting". Each year, the world’s oldest independent design organization, Hannover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH, organizes the iF DESIGN AWARD.

LED Linear™ is among the winners even three times – VESTA, LYRA and XOOTOO were honored with the coveted "Winner" award. A great success, because the German Design Award is the top international prize of the German Design Council.

The German Brand Award is the award for successful brand management in Germany. In the category "Industry Excellence in Branding – Lighting", the brand LED Linear™ received the German Brand Award in Gold.

The German Brand Award is the award for successful brand management in Germany. In the category "Excellence in Brand Strategy, Management and Creation – Brand Strategy", LED Linear™ was awarded the Winner label for the concept "Customer orientation without limits”.

The German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council and is one of the most recognized design competitions in the world. Firedance, HYDRALUX™ and XOOMINAIRE™ 4292 were awarded "Special Mention".

The jury has decided: after several days of evaluating thousands of products from all over the world, MARS, LYRA and VESTA received the coveted "Red Dot" award. LED Linear™ has demonstrated outstanding design and high quality, and this was acknowledged by the expert committee of the Red Dot Award: "Product Design 2017" with the internationally known quality seal.

The German Design Award is the international premium price of the German Design Council. Nominees in the category “Lighting” (Excellent Product Design) are FIRE DANCE, HYDRALUX™, XOOMINAIRE™ 4292 und XOOMINAIRE™ 9999.

For the 23^rd time the TOP 100 were honored, the most innovative companies of German SMEs. LED Linear™ is part of this innovation elite for the fourth time in a row this year and even made it to place 3 in its company size class.

Competition recognizing excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for general illumination in commercial, industrial, and institutional applications. The XOOTUBE™ 38 HD15 was awarded with the label "Recognized". The judges applauded the aesthetics and dimming performance of this decorative pendant luminaire. The "Brands of the Century" present the best-known German brands that are each an example of a genus. In the edition “Stars 2016” LED Linear™ was awarded for "The lighting system".

The European Business Awards are a hallmark of excellence in whole Europe. LED Linear™ was honored as "National Champion".

The darc awards are the first awards program with peer-to-peer voting only for lighting designers. The VarioLED™ Flex VENUS has been selected as "Lighting Designers' Favourite Architectural Lighting Product – Exterior".

Throughout the world and across different industries, the Red Dot Award 2015 is considered the most prestigious award for outstanding design excellence. In the category "LED luminaires"VarioLED™ Flex AMOR, HYDRALUX™ and XOOTUBE™ 38 were awarded this coveted seal of quality.

4,783 entries submitted from 53 countries: From 20^th to 22^nd January 2015 a 53-member international jury of experts met to determine the winners of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2015.

Launched by the IMM Cologne and the German Design Council, the “Interior Innovation Award” is considered one of the most prestigious design awards in the furnishing industry and stands for innovative excellence. In the product category “Lighting” the VarioLED™ Flex SKYLLA was awarded the label "Winner 2015". The XOOTUBE™ 38 was honored with the label “Selection 2015”.

The “Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design” organizes the annual GOOD DESIGN™ Award. Founded in Chicago in 1950, it remains the oldest and the worldwide most recognized award for design excellence. XOOMINAIRE™ was awarded with a 2014 GOOD DESIGN™ Award.

Again the LED Linear™ GmbH has been selected at the German SME Summit in Essen among the "Top 100" most innovative companies. The award was presented by TV moderator Ranga Yogeshwar.

At this year’s competition "iF Design Award" the XOOMINAIRE™ was awarded with the product design award 2014 by 49 international design professionals. The iF Design Award is a seal of approval for products with outstanding quality.

Nominated for the category "Transportation and Public Space": VarioLED™ OCEANOS

Launched by the IMM Cologne and the German Design Council, the “Interior Innovation Award” is considered one of the most prestigious design awards in the furnishing industry and stands for innovative excellence. In the product category “Lighting” the XOOMINAIRE™ was awarded.

The initiative award North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is awarded by the WGZ BANK, the WAZ, the NRZ, the WR and the WP. Prizes will be awarded for special achievements in the areas of: renewable energies and environmental protection, the creation of new jobs in NRW as well as social commitment in NRW. LED Linear™ won the first prize for the creation of numerous jobs in NRW.

The LED Linear™ GmbH was chosen by the "Top 100" jury "Innovator of the Year". With 70 employees LED Linear™ develops and manufactures high quality linear lighting systems based on LED technologies for the world market. Founded in 2006, the company impressed the judges, are among the personalities like Prof. Dr. Roland Berger, with a 700% revenue growth from 2008 to 2012 and an employment growth of about 730%.
